How to make successful applications to run public arts projects

 

Portsmouth City Council regularly invites artists, groups and organisations to tender for public and community arts projects. To find out more about these opportunities and the tendering process you are invited to a free open evening and networking event in Portsmouth on 2 November.

Guest speakers include representatives of Portsmouth City Council, who will talk about how they work with artists and the local community; Cibas, who will talk about the forthcoming 'Going Public' professional develpoment training scheme; and Dan Musty of Compulsive Productions who will talk about his own experiences of working on arts and community projects in partnership with local authorities.

The 'Going Public' professional development course will take place over three mornings in November and December. The course has been devised by Cibas and is aimed at freelance artists and creative practitioners, arts professionals, groups and organisations.

It will offer an invaluable insight into understanding your local authority's commitment to the arts and community engagement as well as the essential tools and techniques for making successful applications and delivering great projects.

The fee to attend the three-part course is £200 which includes all course materials and refreshments. However, there are 15 free places available to Portsmouth and south east Hampshire based artists thanks to the support of Portsmouth City Council's Arts and Cultural Development Service.
